I decided that I am going to throw some stuff on eBay and come up with a PC gaming fund. Will keep everyone updated, but I am certainly going to need a “quick start” guide, or some getting started tips from those of you in the know. I do not plan to spend hour after hour killing bunnies, and I am not going to have time to dig for gold all day. Maybe those are misconceptions of what WoW is all about, but hopefully I will have enough in the eBay war chest to make a purchase next weekend.
Stay tuned.
Make sure to choose the Bronzebeard server when you finally sign up.
My tip – don’t bother with WoW and its gold farmers, try Eve-online instead. No sub-Tolkein background, and skills are time based not XP based, so there are no levels.
I can even throw in a 14-day trial….
7 million strong and counting :-)! Not to say that Eve-online isn’t a good game. A lot of us enjoy that sub-Tolkein background as opposed to the pseudo Star Wars, Star Trek, science fiction, space odyssey that is Eve-online.
fair enough Chris – i played it for about 6 months myself, but got stuck in the trough between lvls 45 and 50 that I couldn’t be arsed getting out of through grinding.
I think they key for that level is to join a guild. I cannot emphasize enough how much more fun WoW is when you are playing within a guild. I probably would not be playign WoW right now if I hadn’t joined a guild a year ago. Grinding is less of a chore when you can do it in dungeons with the help of other guild mates.
Bronzebeard? I assume that is where you play. Is that the “hard core” server where all the serious WoW play? I would hate to be the only newbie on the server.
There are noobs and hardcore on every server. Game’s been out a year ya know :). No such thing as a hardcore PVE server.
OK, so I am learning. A couple of guys at work told me that I should start on a PVE server, NOT a PVP server. I assume that Bronzebeard is PVE. Horde or Alliance (sp on both)?
It’s a PVE server. We’re Alliance.
