Sunday, February 27th, 2005 at 6:59 pmRandom thoughts:
I saw this movie title, thought about 24 and The Apprentice, and laughed out loud (readers of my former site will get the joke).
Florida beat South Carolina in South Carolina by one point this afternoon. Nothing significant except that it was the first game in four years that the Gators showed some heart.
Lot […]
Condoms for Disks
Sunday, February 27th, 2005 at 11:08 amDo your disks need protection? Ever consider a disk condom? Sounds crazy, but I picked up a 5 pack of d_skin disk protectors last week from Best Buy. Yes, I am supporting the enemy, but it is not my fault that someone gave me a gift card for Christmas, so I am […]
Excellent Television
Saturday, February 26th, 2005 at 1:27 amI’m sure that I am preaching to the choir, but the SciFi Channel’s Friday night lineup is a solid three hours of pretty good storytelling. They were smart enough not to include the dreadful Andromeda and decided to showcase the network’s crown jewels. Thanks to Tivo, I started watching Stargate SG-1 last year […]
Best Gran Turismo 4 Site?
Friday, February 25th, 2005 at 12:42 pmWhat is the ultimate site for GT4 info, including outstanding forums/message boards? Back in the day it was the Gran Turismo Forum, but that place looks rather dead. Please do not tell me that it is GameFAQs.
Anyone want to help a poor guy out? These days I just do not have time […]
Gran Turismo 4 - CPU AI Still Lacking
Friday, February 25th, 2005 at 7:20 amIf I said the AI in GT4 was better than the AI in previous GT games, many of you would say that I was a f’ing genius because it could not get much worse. The AI has been slightly upgraded, but it is nothing to write home about; marginally better at best.
Of course I […]
Kaboom!
Thursday, February 24th, 2005 at 4:15 pmI must say that it is quite funny watching all of the loudest EA critics and boycott organizers collapse like the Yankees against the Red Sox in the ALCS. I won’t name any names, or point any fingers, but MVP Baseball will probably not suffer much at the cash register this season. At […]
Gran Turismo 4 First Impressions
Thursday, February 24th, 2005 at 12:15 pmI no longer can remember how long I have anticipated the release of Gran Turismo 4, so last night, opening the wrapper on the game was pretty anticlimactic.
I put in the game and was greeted by a kicking intro sequence with beautiful graphics, Panama by Van Halen blearing. That got my blood pumping.
The game […]
Damn You Blizzard!
Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005 at 11:16 pmThe World of Warcraft servers are down during prime elder gamer playing time - that sweet spot between when everyone is asleep in the house and when your wife stumbles into your den wondering why you haven’t come to bed yet. Many an evil creature has been killed, nations conquered, and sports team dynasties […]
Gran Turismo 4 Arrives
Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005 at 11:37 amFinally! With little fanfare, GT4 shipped last night. I assume it will be safe and sound at home by the time I get off work, but will anyone care? I plan to post my usual disarray of opinions and such, but I am feeling really unmotivated to play this oft-delayed game.
Sphere: Related […]
Microsoft (AKA the Evil Empire)
Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005 at 11:34 amI have never been a Microsoft (M$) hater; I made plenty of money in the early stages of my career writing applications for Windows, so I am normally fairly reserved when it comes to attacks on M$. But not this time; it is just getting too much to stomach.
So why do many IT folks […]
Rap and Gangs – Society and O’Reilly Blames the Music
Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005 at 8:26 amI am fairly conservative by nature, and I really enjoy the O’Reilly Factor, but I am sick and tired of passing the buck to explain why certain segments of society misbehave. It is a fairly well known fact that O’Reilly thinks that “Rap Culture” contributes to juvenile delinquency. I disagree with this thesis.
Last […]
World of Warcraft Cold Turkey
Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005 at 9:40 pmI recently returned from a house hunting trip to College Station, Texas. During that time, I didn’t play one minute of World of Warcraft. I must say that it was much more difficult than I thought it would be to simply miss a “few” days. I kept thinking to myself, “You know, […]
Howdy!
Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005 at 6:36 amThanks for the warm welcome! I hope to continue to bring my, shall we say, unique viewpoint to the Recycle Bin for many years to come.
Those of you who read my former site know that I am a big 24 fan. The episodes continue to get better every week. But I would […]
Elder Gamers Unite
Monday, February 21st, 2005 at 8:08 pmLife often has a way of dealing us the strangest of surprises. Regulars here know that I am not what anyone would call a fan of online gaming. In fact the only online game that I play is OOTP6 (and really this is passive online gaming), in the IOSBL.
In a strange turn of […]
Wipeout XL (Original PlayStation)
Saturday, February 19th, 2005 at 1:30 pmI know that Wipeout has one of those cult following things going for it, but I have never really understood why. I remember playing the demo on the disk that came with my PlayStation (has it really been almost 10 years?), but I did not think that much about the game at the time. […]
