Jeff Francoeur Returns …

Jeff FrancoeurAccording to the Macon Telegraph Jeff Francoeur is flying out west to rejoin the Braves in LA.

“Jeff Francoeur’s stay in the minor leagues barely lasted a weekend. Francoeur, who had four hits in his third game with Double-A Mississippi on Sunday, was recalled to the Atlanta Braves on Monday. Francoeur was 7 for 13 (.548) with two RBIs at Mississippi.”

Wow. That was quick. Apparently the move to recall Francoeur occurred so quickly because the Braves just put relief pitchers Jeff Bennett and Manny Acosta, and infielder Omar Infante on the Disabled List.

“A player can be recalled after spending less than 10 days in the minors if replacing an injured player.”

I had no idea that rule was in place, but I guess it works out well for the Braves. I do not see how three games was enough time for Francoeur to get his head straight, but hopefully he quickly returns to form.
