I think the folks at SportsInteractive deserve some sort of award for not completely snapping at the complaints in the Out of the Park Baseball 2007 forum about the user interface. They patiently answer their critics (usually people who played the game for 60 minutes, did not read the manual, did not visit the forums, did not post tech issues in the tech forum, etc.) and it all seems to roll off of them like water on a duck’s back. Me, I would have been going berserk about now and tell the complainers that they don’t deserve to own OOTPB 2007. So crawl back to whatever interface you came from and have a nice day!
The game isn’t perfect and can use some improvements. But two idiots (as of 11:40 PM CST) voted that OOTPB 2007 was “very poor.” I can’t remember when 132 people (roughly 84% of responders) rated any initial OOTP release as good or higher. Has never happened. But “very poor”? You have to be kidding me.
Maybe SI should add a disclaimer to the game before people purchase it? Something like “This is the most complicated baseball sim ever developed. If you are too STUPID to visit forums, read the very very long manual, and try to solve technical issues with the assistance of the helpful tech support people, then do NOT purchase this game.”
I’m just tired of reading this crap. I am the first person to pounce on a developer if the product is poorly designed or doesn’t work as advertised. But I also give credit where credit is due. When even the spreadsheet lovers over at Front Office Football Central are having a hard time coming up with major complaints, then this is truly a remarkable product.
Buy OOTPB 2007!
Good grief! I looked at the poll earlier tonight at there were three idiots. Today was the first time I had time to spend any signifigant time on the msg board since the game was released … interesting stuff. Makes me remember why I stopped hanging out on msg boards as much as I used to in a time long ago.
No kidding. I even thought most of the complaining about 2006 to be a tad overblown. I’ve put about 10 hours into 2007 so far and I’ve found only a couple of minor things I’d like to see tweaked. Brilliant game.
