Madden 2010 Fun

I have not played Madden in the last few days (actually probably the last couple of weeks since Falcons football actually started … whatever). I found myself at home today watching the kids, and since the youngest boy was asleep I decided to get in some Madden playtime.

First up I had to download the latest patch. I did not pay attention to what version it was, so I am not sure how many times the game has been patched. I did go online just so I could get the latest, greatest rosters, which as a Falcons fan sort of sucks since Harry Douglas (WR) and Peria Jerry (DT) are IR fodder.

I decided to take on Farve and the Minnesota Vikings. Mainly because my kids love Farve, and partly because I have not played them in this year’s version of the game. Adrian Peterson run the all over me. He killed me on the opening drive, with several big pickups, which was pretty realistic of Atlanta’s not so hot run defense.

Out of the gate I was down 7-0, but I pulled within striking distance 10-3 before the half. I was behind the whole game until the final 53 seconds when I managed a 4 yard Ryan to Tony G. TD pass to go up 17-13. What a game! Fun stuffs for sure!

A couple of items of note. First, the injuries were frequent, but not game breaking. Farve actually went out for most of the game, until late in the 4th qtr. I like the way the players are sometimes only injured for a little while and are able to make it back into the game.

This year Madden is actually a fun pick up and play game. I have not started a franchise; just playing the “play now” mode and using the Falcons against various teams.

For what it is worth, I have purposely avoided all the glitz, cheats, bugs, etc threads on the various forums. If the gameplay experience sucks because of stupid occurrences and money plays, I know next to nothing about them, so in this case, ignorance is complete blitz.

This really is the best version of Madden in recent memory. To put it to the test, when was the last time I actually bothered to write about a Madden game?
