Big Mistake

Every now and then I make a huge error when it comes to game purchases. This usually happens when I have zero time for additional gaming and I decide to “just take a look” at some new release. Yesterday I made this classic mistake when I headed off to Best Buy to purchase the Lord of the Rings Online. My logic (or lack thereof) was that I could play the game during Blizzard’s Tuesday maintenance to pass the time.

Fool.

I’ll post more about LoTR when I’ve played a bit more, but let’s just say I’m having fun playing with my dwarf minstrel (healer). I won’t give up World of Warcraft. However, I am squeezing in even more gaming time these days. Oh yea, the BM 2008 analysis is officially on hold this month…

  1. I just started LOTR meself, and I am liking it more and more. Probably helps if you compare it at the moment to WoW when it started, rather than the ‘WoW plus 2 years patches’ that there is now.

  2. I am a huge LOTR (and J.R.R. Tolkien) fan, so this one may catch my interest, but I doubt I will spring for another monthly. How much per month?

  3. $14.99 a month. Game is much more immersive than WoW, or at least the little I’ve seen of it so far. A much better storyline, but you’d expect that. And the graphics and sound effects are pretty good. If it is a good casual player game, I’ll probably keep my subscription and cancel MLB.TV, hehe.

  4. But I bet it is not too soon to wrap it up in a nice package, slap a review grade on it, and say if it rules or sucks. Oh sorry … never mind. For a minute there, I just lost touch with the real world and thought about the 1990s.

  5. There’s more content planned – I think the first new area is due within the next month or so.
