{"id":885,"date":"2007-05-26T09:27:06","date_gmt":"2007-05-26T13:27:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2007\/05\/26\/monaco\/"},"modified":"2007-05-26T09:27:06","modified_gmt":"2007-05-26T13:27:06","slug":"monaco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2007\/05\/26\/monaco\/","title":{"rendered":"Monaco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am not sure why, but I love watching the Grand Prix of Monaco.\u00a0 Actually, I guess it is just a wonderful looking street circuit, with lots of history, and while the racing may not be all that great from a pure wheel-to-wheel passing standpoint, the drivers have to go balls out to make things happen.\u00a0 One of my dream vacations is to take in an F1 race at Monaco; hopefully it will happen before I am too old to enjoy this sort of vacation.<\/p>\n<p>Today is the first time I have watched qualifying from end-to-end this year, and I have to say that I like the new qualifying format.\u00a0 I am assuming this format is new; I did not watch much F1 last year.\u00a0 At any rate, I like the multiple knock-out sessions, which provides plenty of excitement and is better than the old \u201cwait until the last minute\u201d to give it a go, and the previous format that was in place a couple of years ago.\u00a0 I guess that shows how much I have been following F1 in recent years.\u00a0 For whatever reason, I went from being a \u201ccan\u2019t miss a race fan\u201d to a casual, keeping up with the F1 news at a glance fan.\u00a0 Ah, but Monaco always brings me back.<\/p>\n<p>Today we saw a nice duel between Alonso and Hamilton.\u00a0 At the very end, Alonso managed to take the pole from Hamilton.\u00a0 Massa managed P3 for Ferrari.\u00a0 Good stuff!\u00a0 The multiple tire rules will create opportunities to pass in the pits, but from what bits and parts of F1 I have seen this year, the McLarens are going to be up to the challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow is going to be heaven on TV!\u00a0 Back-to-back racing \u2013 Monaco, Indy, and Coke 600.\u00a0 Good stuff all around.\u00a0 Better go get some chores out of the way to build up some \u201cbonus\u201d points because I will need them for tomorrow.<\/p>\n<div class=\"addtoany_share_save_container addtoany_content_bottom\"><div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_ addtoany_list a2a_target\" id=\"wpa2a_1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share', '');\" class=\"a2a_dd addtoany_share_save\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/wp-content\/plugins\/add-to-any\/share_save_171_16.png\" width=\"171\" height=\"16\" alt=\"Share\"\/><\/a>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\nif(wpa2a)wpa2a.script_load();\n\/\/--><\/script>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am not sure why, but I love watching the Grand Prix of Monaco.\u00a0 Actually, I guess it is just a wonderful looking street circuit, with lots of history, and while the racing may not be all that great from a pure wheel-to-wheel passing standpoint, the drivers have to go balls out to make things &hellip;
