{"id":716,"date":"2006-10-28T07:46:24","date_gmt":"2006-10-28T11:46:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2006\/10\/28\/sec-preview-week-9\/"},"modified":"2006-10-28T07:46:24","modified_gmt":"2006-10-28T11:46:24","slug":"sec-preview-week-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2006\/10\/28\/sec-preview-week-9\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC Preview (Week 9)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another glorious weekend of SEC football is on the plate.\u00a0 Well, except for the glorious part.\u00a0 Tennessee\/South Carolina looks like a decent game, with an interesting Spurrier\/Fulmer backdrop, and Georgia\/Florida always makes for a good story line.\u00a0 The only problem is that neither game shapes up to be much of a contest.<\/p>\n<p>Last week I was a perfect 6-0, which brings the total to 51-11 on the year.\u00a0 On to the picks\u2026<\/p>\n<p><b>(7) Auburn \u2013 Mississippi<\/b><br \/>\nIt would be safe for one to assume that the Tigers will crush Tommy\u2019s former team.\u00a0 This is really not much of a match up, and no chance for Ole Miss to get up for this one and pull some sort of upset along the lines of the Arkansas debacle.<\/p>\n<p><b>Kentucky \u2013 Mississippi State<\/b><br \/>\nIn a clash of too bad teams, the Wildcats will pull even to 4-4 on the year, while the pitiful Bulldogs will continue their lackluster (dare I say embarrassing) showing this year.\u00a0 I wonder how much longer Sylvester Croom is going to be given to turn this puppy around.<\/p>\n<p><b>(8) Tennessee \u2013 South Carolina<\/b><br \/>\nI think some people are going to think there will be some sort of Spurrier factor in this one, but the truth of the matter is that the Gamecocks are far, far away from having talent to match the guys in orange.\u00a0 If South Carolina does pull off the upset, we will have to debate if Spurrier is really a genius or if Fulmer is a fool.<\/p>\n<p><b>Vanderbilt \u2013 Duke<\/b><br \/>\nVanderbilt pulls one step closer to .500 (and a bowl bid), while Duke continues their run of ineptitude.<\/p>\n<p><b>Florida International \u2013 Alabama<\/b><br \/>\nNothing like a healthy dose of a cupcake to get the Tide\u2019s offense rolling, rolling, Roll Tide!<\/p>\n<p><b>Louisiana-Monroe \u2013 (13) Arkansas<\/b><br \/>\nAnother piss-poor game on the SEC slate.\u00a0 Not sure why they bother to schedule these things, but they do, so souie!<\/p>\n<p><b>Georgia \u2013 (9) Florida<\/b><br \/>\nAnother year, another loss to the Gators.\u00a0 I think the line is about 13, but I have a nasty feeling in my stomach (and I am not talking about the chips and coke-rum from last night), that the results are going to be more like 13-34 in favor of the bad guys.\u00a0 One can always hope for an upset, but that seems highly unlikely.\u00a0 But one can hope.<\/p>\n<p>Go Dawgs!<\/p>\n<div class=\"addtoany_share_save_container addtoany_content_bottom\"><div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_ addtoany_list a2a_target\" id=\"wpa2a_1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share', '');\" class=\"a2a_dd addtoany_share_save\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/wp-content\/plugins\/add-to-any\/share_save_171_16.png\" width=\"171\" height=\"16\" alt=\"Share\"\/><\/a>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\nif(wpa2a)wpa2a.script_load();\n\/\/--><\/script>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another glorious weekend of SEC football is on the plate.\u00a0 Well, except for the glorious part.\u00a0 Tennessee\/South Carolina looks like a decent game, with an interesting Spurrier\/Fulmer backdrop, and Georgia\/Florida always makes for a good story line.\u00a0 The only problem is that neither game shapes up to be much of a contest.
