At least I think there is an upwards trend based on snippets I have recently read in Racer magazine and there is a pronounced upwards trend in participation by NASCAR Nextel Cup stars.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/irl\/news?slug=patrickdaytona24&prov=st&type=lgns\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/irl\/news?slug=patrickdaytona24&amp;prov=st&amp;type=lgns', 'Danica Patrick');\" target=new>Danica Patrick<\/a> is adding her name to the mix:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI think it\u2019s one of those races where you have to stay consistent,\u201d Patrick said at a three-day testing session this weekend. \u201cAs soon as I pick up my speed on the track, hopefully that will stay consistent.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Danica\u2019s statement may be obvious, and this may be old news to racing fans, but I think it is great that more and more US racing stars are throwing their weight behind sports cars, prototypes, and the Rolex 24.<\/p>\n<div class=\"addtoany_share_save_container addtoany_content_bottom\"><div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_ addtoany_list a2a_target\" id=\"wpa2a_1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share', '');\" class=\"a2a_dd addtoany_share_save\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/wp-content\/plugins\/add-to-any\/share_save_171_16.png\" width=\"171\" height=\"16\" alt=\"Share\"\/><\/a>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\nif(wpa2a)wpa2a.script_load();\n\/\/--><\/script>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sports car racing looks to be getting more and more popular in the US.
