{"id":3803,"date":"2012-01-01T08:26:43","date_gmt":"2012-01-01T12:26:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/?p=3803"},"modified":"2012-01-01T08:28:38","modified_gmt":"2012-01-01T12:28:38","slug":"falcons-host-buccaneers-%e2%80%93-does-it-matter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2012\/01\/01\/falcons-host-buccaneers-%e2%80%93-does-it-matter\/","title":{"rendered":"Falcons Host Buccaneers \u2013 Does It Matter?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It will suck for me if I take the 90 minute trip to ATL only to find out that the Lions wrapped up the 5th spot, and the Falcons decide to treat this New Year\u2019s Day game like a 3rd preseason game.<\/p>\n<p>Of course we will enjoy the beautiful weather (60\u2019s with plenty of sunshine), tailgate, delicious adult beverages, and all the general fun that goes into an afternoon of family tailgating.<\/p>\n<p>Landing the 5th or 6th spot is probably equivalent to having to decide \u00a0[\u2026 pick your poison \u2026 I was going to make some reference to sisters and fat girls, but decided it wasn\u2019t very funny \u2026] It\u2019s not going to matter if this ATL team has to travel to San Fran or New Orleans.  And I doubt that they will make the NFC Championship game, so heading back to Detroit is probably not in the cards either.<\/p>\n<p>Unless Green Bay plays their starters and gives the Falcons a shot at the 5th seed (we will know before our 4PM kickoff), I think ATL is going to rest everyone after the 1st QTR, which means <a href=\"http:\/\/espn.go.com\/blog\/nfcsouth\/post\/_\/id\/29666\/final-word-nfc-south-49\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/espn.go.com\/blog\/nfcsouth\/post\/_\/id\/29666\/final-word-nfc-south-49', 'Ryan better get to work quickly');\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan better get to work quickly<\/a> \u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Erasing Jeff George: Like the Saints, the Falcons also are saying they\u2019ll play their starters. Let\u2019s hope that\u2019s true and let\u2019s hope Matt Ryan at least plays long enough to throw for 73 yards. If he does, he\u2019ll set the franchise record for passing yards in a season. The record is 4,143 yards and it was set by Jeff George in 1995. No team should have George at the top of its record book for 16 years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jeff George.
