{"id":1901,"date":"2009-12-27T07:09:05","date_gmt":"2009-12-27T11:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2009\/12\/27\/sec-predictions-bowls-%e2%80%93-round-1\/"},"modified":"2009-12-27T07:09:05","modified_gmt":"2009-12-27T11:09:05","slug":"sec-predictions-bowls-%e2%80%93-round-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2009\/12\/27\/sec-predictions-bowls-%e2%80%93-round-1\/","title":{"rendered":"SEC Predictions (Bowls \u2013 Round 1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Wildcats of Kentucky are the first SEC team to make an appearance this Bowl season as they take on the Clemson Tigers in the Music City Bowl. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/sports\/gaming\/sheridan.htm\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/sports\/gaming\/sheridan.htm', ' Sheridan');\" target=\"_blank\"> Sheridan<\/a> has Clemson favored by a full 6.5 points.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of those hard to predict games.  Clemson carries a two game winless streak, while Kentucky dropped their last game of the year.  Clearly neither team has any momentum on their side.  I also think the SEC is a much better conference than the ACC, but Kentucky is not an SEC stalwart, so it brings me no shame saying that Clemons wins, but will they cover?<\/p>\n<p>This one will come down to how the coaches prepare their kids, how the coaching staff downplays the disappointment of hanging out in Nashville (instead of Florida); in short, which team can get up for this the Music City Bowl.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalchamps.net\/NCAA\/database\/clemson_database.htm\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.nationalchamps.net\/NCAA\/database\/clemson_database.htm', 'Clemson\u2019s');\" target=\"_blank\">Clemson\u2019s<\/a> recent track record is not so hot; they have lost their last three Bowl game appearances.  On the other hand, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalchamps.net\/NCAA\/database\/kentucky_database.htm\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.nationalchamps.net\/NCAA\/database\/kentucky_database.htm', 'Kentucky');\" target=\"_blank\">Kentucky<\/a> has won three in a row, including the 2006 (against Clemson) and 2007 Music City Bowls.  In other words, this should be old hat for the Wildcats.
