{"id":1184,"date":"2008-05-06T19:06:58","date_gmt":"2008-05-07T00:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2008\/05\/06\/gta-iv-impressions-ever-so-brief\/"},"modified":"2008-05-06T19:06:58","modified_gmt":"2008-05-07T00:06:58","slug":"gta-iv-impressions-ever-so-brief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2008\/05\/06\/gta-iv-impressions-ever-so-brief\/","title":{"rendered":"GTA IV Impressions (ever so brief)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I spent about thirty minutes with the game Sunday night and came away thinking that this is pretty much the same game as the PS2 version, but with prettier (much prettier) graphics.\u00a0 Not much for first impressions, but that was my initial reaction.<\/p>\n<p>I played several missions, and made it to 2.x% complete.\u00a0 Like I said not much time.\u00a0 One strange thing was that I had failed one mission; no idea which one.\u00a0 I do not mind failing, but I like to be told when I mess up.\u00a0 Figured I would start over on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>So Monday night I started over, and went a little farther.\u00a0 Had a date, went bowling, but did not do well.\u00a0 This time I had no failed missions and am just under 3% complete with the game.<\/p>\n<p>The environments seem rather large, the variety of cars is nice, and there seems to be a lot of people on the streets.\u00a0 I have not played enough to notice if there are predictable traffic and pedestrian patterns.\u00a0 Same for the radio stations; have not heard the same music twice.<\/p>\n<p>GTA is either something that you love or loathe.\u00a0 For me, I can get past all the language, violence (have not seen much yet), and general mayhem.\u00a0 The series is over the top, and certainly not for everyone.\u00a0 GTA IV looks to be more of the same, but for me, that is not really a bad thing.<\/p>\n<div class=\"addtoany_share_save_container addtoany_content_bottom\"><div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_ addtoany_list a2a_target\" id=\"wpa2a_1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share', '');\" class=\"a2a_dd addtoany_share_save\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/wp-content\/plugins\/add-to-any\/share_save_171_16.png\" width=\"171\" height=\"16\" alt=\"Share\"\/><\/a>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\nif(wpa2a)wpa2a.script_load();\n\/\/--><\/script>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I spent about thirty minutes with the game Sunday night and came away thinking that this is pretty much the same game as the PS2 version, but with prettier (much prettier) graphics.\u00a0 Not much for first impressions, but that was my initial reaction.
