{"id":1009,"date":"2007-08-18T06:55:36","date_gmt":"2007-08-18T10:55:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2007\/08\/18\/is-madden-for-the-ps3-really-that-bad\/"},"modified":"2007-08-18T06:55:36","modified_gmt":"2007-08-18T10:55:36","slug":"is-madden-for-the-ps3-really-that-bad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/2007\/08\/18\/is-madden-for-the-ps3-really-that-bad\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Madden for the PS3 really that bad?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have read a lot of harsh comments about this year\u2019s Madden, mostly along the lines of a slow, jittery framerate.\u00a0 I guess I continue to show my age, and I continue to move towards a more casual gaming experience, because I just do not see this game as being terrible.<\/p>\n<p>Granted, I have only played 10-15 minutes, but a quick play session should be enough to expose all sorts of graphical problems.\u00a0 Maybe all the framerate issues are for online play, which I typically avoid.<\/p>\n<p>My first impressions are that the graphics look very nice, but certain parts could be better.\u00a0 The crowd animations are still uninspiring, and the sideline action is rather flat.\u00a0 The developers also went for a strange fog-like appearance for everything at a distance that is not part of the field of play.\u00a0 My oldest son asked why it was so cloudy in the Georgia Dome.<\/p>\n<p>If the 360 version is looks 2-3 times better than the PS3 version, then hopefully I have something to look forward to next year (which is probably gives EA\u2019s coffers something to look forward to as well).\u00a0 If a faster framerate does make a difference, then give me more frames and 1080p.<\/p>\n<p>I had no issues with the controls; they are crisp and responsive.\u00a0 I have seen a couple of YouTube videos that indicate that at certain points the animations kick in and take control of your player.\u00a0 I have not seen issues with \u201cmario running\u201d but it looks like some blocking around the pocket may be suspect (oops, just let the guy go and tackle my QB).<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I put Vick on the bench; what a sick SOB.\u00a0 My oldest son asked \u201cWhy is Vick in the game?\u00a0 I thought he was in jail.\u201d\u00a0 Sad.<\/p>\n<div class=\"addtoany_share_save_container addtoany_content_bottom\"><div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_ addtoany_list a2a_target\" id=\"wpa2a_1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'https:\/\/www.addtoany.com\/share', '');\" class=\"a2a_dd addtoany_share_save\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.calvertgames.com\/cgblog\/wp-content\/plugins\/add-to-any\/share_save_171_16.png\" width=\"171\" height=\"16\" alt=\"Share\"\/><\/a>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\nif(wpa2a)wpa2a.script_load();\n\/\/--><\/script>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have read a lot of harsh comments about this year\u2019s Madden, mostly along the lines of a slow, jittery framerate.\u00a0 I guess I continue to show my age, and I continue to move towards a more casual gaming experience, because I just do not see this game as being terrible.
