« Previous EntriesWeekend backyard pest hunt.
Monday, June 2nd, 2008 at 9:25 pmIt was a pretty good weekend for a backyard pest hunt with my Beeman R7. The score? One starling, one treerat, and one chipmunk.
First up was the hunt for starlings. After doing a lot of reading, learning how to identify these pest birds, and reading in the GA regulations that there is […]
Three targets, one shot.
Sunday, May 4th, 2008 at 8:06 pmMy new shooting setup afforded me several opportunities today. The half-bath window is perfect. The window has a clear view of the backyard. I just raise the blinds a bit, raise the window, and sit on a stool (not the all popular throne). I can rest my R7 on the windowsill, and the pests are […]
Oil, Corn, Lead
Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 at 9:23 pmAll continue to go up, up, up. I had the opportunity to break out the Beeman R7 this afternoon for some fun plinking. Alas, no squirrels, but I do have a nice new setup from the half-bath window that should give me some quality shots from the comfort and convenience of the throne […]
Beeman R1 Double Gold
Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 at 5:57 amThose of you following my airgun trials and tribulations know that I have been looking towards my next purchase for a long time. The Crosman Sierra Pro was a decent gun, but it was not really my cup of tea. While I love my Beeman R7, I need something with some extra oomph […]
Crosman Sierra Pro (Final Round)
Saturday, March 1st, 2008 at 9:04 pmThis afternoon was absolutely beautiful, so I decided to take the Sierra Pro out for a few rounds of plinking. This was the first chance I had to shoot the gun since Crosman returned it from repairs. The repair order said that they put in new screws with Loctite. They must have also sighted it […]
Beeman R7 Back in Action
Saturday, March 1st, 2008 at 11:47 amAfter a long stretch of not getting any time to shoot, last Sunday (and hopefully today) I was able to get out the R7 for some plinking action. This is an incredible gun – light weight, easy to shoot, very quiet, and extremely accurate. I cannot imagine a more perfect backyard gun.
Let’s roll […]
Airgun Category
Sunday, January 27th, 2008 at 9:40 amI am surprised with the number of hits, searches, and referrals I get for airgun info, so a couple of weeks ago I added a new airgun category to allow those of you coming to the site for airgun info to quickly find airgun posts.
I also moved up the Category section on the left nav […]
Crosman Discovery? Do I really need this airgun?
Sunday, January 27th, 2008 at 9:33 amCrosman is introducing an entry level PCP called the Crosman Discover. It comes in .177 and .22 flavors, with or without a pump, and will allow for CO2 or compressed air. Sounds interesting.
I love my Beeman R7, but would like something with a little more pop to take out those pesky squirrels. […]
Crosman Sierra Pro Update
Monday, January 21st, 2008 at 4:31 pmI received my gun back from Crosman today, which is a nice three week turn around. The repair order said “new screws and loctite” so I guess the original screws were lose or stripped out. Maybe it is that 1000 fps working the action lose from the stock.
Crosman was also kind enough to include a […]
Beeman R7 .177 Review
Saturday, January 12th, 2008 at 11:29 amAfter responding to a post on the “Yellow Forum” I realized that I had not written much about my Beeman R7. Here is my attempt at a review.
The R7 is perfect for the backyard. It is quiet, it is unbelievably accurate, and extremely easy too shot. It probably does […]
Gamo Sampler Pellets
Sunday, January 6th, 2008 at 5:47 amYesterday at Dick’s Sporting Goods I picked up a sampler pack of Gamo pellets for $8.99. [linked to Pyramyd Air’s site because DSG does not show this set online]
The set contains 4 tins of 250 pellets:
Magnum (8.3 grains)
Hunter (8.4 grains)
Master Point (7.8 grains)
Match (7.6 grains)
I shot a few rounds of each type of pellet […]
Crosman Sierra Pro goes under the knife.
Saturday, December 29th, 2007 at 6:42 amI contacted the fine folks at Crosman about the strange happenings with my Sierra Pro.
Quick Recap: After a day of shooting (60-80) rounds, I put the gun away for a couple of hours, and when I went to use the gun again, it would not cock. After repeated failure getting the gun to […]
Crosman Sierra Pro dies.
Saturday, December 22nd, 2007 at 8:39 pmI planned to write about some shooting that I did earlier today, complete with best pellets per group, highest and lowest scoring group, and standard deviation per group. Instead I am writing a somewhat disappointing entry. My Crosman Sierra Pro bit the dust today.
After getting really comfortable with the sights on the gun, […]
Crosman displays great customer service.
Monday, December 17th, 2007 at 9:36 pmRight before Thanksgiving I wrote that I sent the scope that came with my Sierra Pro back to Crosman for warranty repairs (or exchange). The new scope arrived a little over a week ago.
Our story begins with me sending a customer service email to Crosman asking about my scope. A nice lady (Kim) […]
The one that got away, and the one that didn’t.
Saturday, December 15th, 2007 at 2:27 pmLast weekend, to reward myself for hard day of working in the yard, I sampled a couple of cold ones (Georgia Brown and a High Life), and decided to take some target practice. I was on the hunt looking to eliminate a pest or two from the backyard. Some call in cruel, mean […]
